Hey everyone,
I just wanted to talk to you about something. Lately I've been hearing stuff, particularly bad stuff, about Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), who I like. Things like "She has buck teeth" and "I hate how she sings" have been floating around school as her fame continues to increase. I am very sad that people would say things like that because it is just plain mean, and it is okay to keep comments like that to yourself. Almost all celebrities have people who don't really like them, but they don't need to shout to the world "I hate Miley Cyrus!" or whoever they are talking about. Personally, I can not stand rap music. I don't hate people who like it or sing it, I just don't care for it just like people don't care for country music or classical music. Not saying I like those, but to some people I like "different" music. Anyway, next time you say something about this or hear someone say it, think about how you would feel in that position.

Swimming

What's your favorite sport? Baseball? Soccer? Basketball? Well, mine is swimming. I have done summer swim team for five years, and currently I am participating in winter swimming, although you can swim on this team in the summer as well, so I swim both teams in the spring/summer. My favorite stroke is breaststroke, even though a lot of people would probably say it is the hardest stroke, besides butterfly which most people would classify as "impossible" unless you have the muscle and endurance. When I started it in the summer of second grade, I immediately realized that I had found the sport for me. I had tried gymnastics, soccer (which definitely didn't work for me because I am by no means a runner in any way, shape, or form.), lacrosse, and basketball, but none caught my attention as much as swimming. Just yesterday, I received a new swim bag for my straight A's (second quarter in a row, just two more to go!) which I am very excited about.

Seals!!!

Seals are soooo cute! I just love them. Truthfully, I have no idea how this obsession started, but you can't really tell me that the seal above is not just the cutest, now can you?
It is horrible how some people kill seals just for food, or even just the fun of it. If only there was a way to stop this or make it illegal. I completely support the organizations that protect seals and other animals in wildlife. I am currently trying to "adopt" a seal, and support it. This website also offers the adoption of many other different wildlife animals from both land and water for 35-45 dollars each. The adoption comes with a folder including a photo, fact sheet, certificate, and action cards of the animal.

Seventh Grade has been really cool this year, though I am jealous of the eighth grade because they get to go to New York City. They will be seeing "Hairspray" on Broadway. I am pretty sure we won't be going next year because this is the first time they have gone in three or four years, but big whoop. Maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to go next year if I am lucky.

Cross-country Trip

Hey everyone! Last summer, we went on a two week camping trip through about seven different states, from Maryland to Minnesota. This upcoming summer, we are planning on going on a five week trip to the Rockey's on the West side of the U.S. We do have a camper, though, so it is much more convenient then a tent with everything we have to keep in it. I will be trying to keep updating my blog with the latest news on this, so be sure to keep up!
